Started this summer with a quick visit back to Singapore before my internship at Marconi Communications from the day after Memorial Day 2000 till the week before Christmas 2000.
As soon as I got back, I had to buy a car, to drive to work. (was using a rental for the first week, actually, two sets of rentals, one from the airport, and one cheaper one from Enterprise Oakland). My trusty Honda Civic always started, and stayed with me till CMU graduation at May 2001. (I was reluctant to part with it until the end...)
Over summer, made tours with friends, mostly from CMU, including two trips to Cleveland, Ohio, and neighboring areas (including a drive-through safari at Port Clinton). (we tried to find accommodation there over July 4th and found that there were no motels with spaces, so we eventually drove back to Pittsburgh and then out there again the next day). Most of the tours, paradoxically, weren't with the Honda, but with various rental cars, almost all rented from the Enterprise at Millvale Avenue.
Saw the 4th July Fireworks in Pittsburgh, as well as in Cleveland. This time, I finally got relatively decent pictures of the fireworks.
Made a mid-July trip to Richmond, to visit a CMU friend interning there, and one of my RJC classmates working there.
One of the NCB colleagues visited Pittsburgh and we showed her around, including going to a musical and enjoying some ice cream during the hot summer season.
Marconi Communications sponsored a couple of trips downtown, cruises on the river, etc. and I took some pictures of the building and also where I parked my car. This was at the main campus in Warrendale (after November they moved my department to a temporary building in some Research Park.)
Towards the end of the summer, I visited some RJC classmates who were studying or working in San Francisco, California. Made it into a wonderful tour of the place, my second visit to San Francisco but the first where I really got to drive and nav
