An enjoyable afternoon at the Stanford University Aquatic Center to catch the US Olympic Team and other National teams at the synchronized Swimming Championships. Here's the official newsline about the event:

The best Synchronized Swimmers in the country come to Stanford April 28th - May 1st.

April 23, 2004

Stanford, CA - Stanford University will take the plunge when the 2004 U.S. National Synchronized Swimming Championships come to campus from April 29th to May 1st. All events will be held on campus at the Avery Aquatic Center.

The annual National Championship features the nation's elite swimmers vying for titles in solo, duet, and team events. Top finishers also qualify for the U.S. Senior and Junior National Team trials. Stanford Synchronized Swimming has qualified for the meet in each of the past five seasons. Having previously only taken solos and duets to the competition, Stanford will compete in the team event for the first time in 2004 and will strive for a top-three finish.

This competition supports the efforts of Stanford's Athletic Department to continue to bring the finest championship sporting events to the campus. It is our hope that it will foster the growth of synchronized swimming in the Bay Area.

---------These pictures were taken with a Kyocera Finecam SL300R. Its a really tiny camera with a 3X zoom lens and I was sitting all the way back (about as far awayas I could be). So I used the 3X + digital zoom. Most pictures are a 6x zoom, not bad out of a pocketable compact! I'm quite happy with the results!
